AROUND TOWN
“A TEA EXTRAVAGANZA” presented by the Community Bible Church will be held on Saturday February 2nd at 2:00.  It will feature Bonnie Lewis’s story “With Visions Beyond Boarders to Orphans and Rescued Sex Slaves.”  Also on the program will be author Dawn Colby’s testimony and book signing of “True Love Ignited.”  There will be door prizes, Christian Fellowship and everyone is welcome.  (I really like the part about Christian Fellowship.  Fort Benton claims seven churches and they are all Christian.  We basically believe the same thing.  It is similar to our government leaders who are divided but basically are all Americans.)  There is no charge for this event.  Hope to see you there, as the messages that will be offered are important to all women.  (This does not mean that men cannot attend and are cordially invited.)

I would be happy to write about any events that the Churches are presenting or involved in.  Just drop your information by my house or call me with the details.  It is a great time of year for these events to prevent “Cabin Fever.”    (Only 8 more weeks until spring.)  If we all participate in these events, get to know each other, it will make a stronger community.

“HERBERT the ENTERTAINER” is returning to the Sunrise Bluffs on Monday the 28 of February.  Herbert and his wife have visited Fort Benton several times before.  They live in Canada and every year they travel from their home to Mexico and back again.  On their way, they stop over at Nursing Homes and Retirement Homes to entertain.  Herbert is also a ventriloquist and his “other voice” is so adorable.  I want to hold the little creature this time around.  If you like lively music and songs that you recognize, this is the show for you.  This entertainment is also free of charge.

“FRONTIER DOGS” will be presented at the Sunrise Bluffs on Friday the 1st of February at 1:00 p.m.  Our very busy young woman, Elinor, from the BLM is putting together this presentation. (Typing BLM is so much easier for me than the facilities long name so please excuse Connie.)  A few weeks ago, Cruzatte appeared at the Bluffs sponsored by the BLM and the turnout was surprisingly a good one.  It seems as though there are people in Fort Benton interested in history.  If you love dogs and history, you should be in the audience at 1:00 p.m. on the lst of February.

RECYCLE DAY
The Recycle Committee was enthusiastic with the turnout last Saturday.  The backend of one pickup was filled with cardboard and another one with newspapers.  There were 18 Recyclers that went to the Fairgrounds in a couple of hours.  Tentative plans are to use the funds gained by this project will be enough to pay for the repair of the baler behind the former Pizza Pro.  Somehow, it caught on fire a few weeks back and the damage has to be assessed by a professional.  Original plans by the committee were to have the pickup program every two weeks.  I will keep you posted next week about the February 2nd pickup.

I wondered what Plan B would be if there was a better turnout than expected.  As it was, another pickup did turn up that day.  Shannon had arranged for storage if there was an overflow collection.  I am sure that the next pickup day will yield a better turnout as the word gets around.  I am grateful to Shannon, Elinor, and Glenda for taking their busy time to do the collecting.  They are so young and strong, and unloaded the back of my truck.  I did not have to get out of my vehicle.  I had a small load due to my not recycling newspapers and magazines since last summer.  I was trashing three 13-gallon bags a week and now I am back to one a week.  That is such a satisfying feeling to know that your trash is going for something good.  I would also like to say for the Committee, a huge hurrah for all those who participated.  I will also update you next week as to how much our cardboard, newspapers and magazines were worth.

You can still recycle plastic bottles at Wal-Mart.  You can recycle No. 1 and 2 items in clear or white plastic.  They do not take colored plastic.  A few people have told me that they cannot find where the recycle bins are.  If you go into the parking lot from the side street, make a left at the first row with an arrow that goes toward Smelter.  At the end of the row make another left and the bins are at the last row right around the curve in the parking lot.  There are two or three large bins and are usually full of plastic.  One day a man who was picking up the plastic told me to put my bags alongside the dumpsters.  He is there often to pick them up.  Do try to recycle those plastic bottles.  Yes, they are much better than glass but they do not disintegrate for years and years.  There must be a better way and I hope there is a scientist out there working on it at this very moment.

WHAT IS LOVE?
