SPRING AHEAD“VIEW from the BRIDGE”

Yes, it has rolled around again and I have two clocks that I do not have to reset.  They are too big and heavy to take down from the wall and I leave them at daylight savings time all year round.  We now enter into another cycle of time and in approximately two more weeks the official spring season will be here.  I am anxious to see if it means what it says.  “Spring,” means warmth, flowers, trees budding, and no more heavy jackets, gloves, and boots.  I am looking forward to the next six months before I have to look for those items again.  

Last fall I heard a report the Almanac said that this would be the worse winter ever.  I do not know the stats but it surely seems as though it has been a tough one.  Back in the East it was certainly true.  They have had to deal with heavy snowfall, ice storms, and now flooding.  It was a winter they will long remember.  Hang in there folks because it now has to get better.  (I hope.)

FULL WORM MOON FOR MARCH
From the Almanac comes this explanation.  As the temperature begins to warm and the ground beginning to thaw, earth worms casts appear, heralding the return of the robins.  It was also known as the Crow Moon because the cawing of the crows signaled the end of winter.  Another name is the Crust Moon because the snow cover becomes crusted from a thaw during the day and freezing at night.  A fourth name is the Sap Moon as it is the marking of the time to the beginning of the tapping of the maple trees.  The early settlers named it the Lenten Moon and was considered the last moon of the winter.

So take your choice.  I like the Worm Moon because it frees up those poor little earthworms that have been frozen all winter long.  If we did not have earthworms, we would not have an earth.  Check that out o the inter-net.

SWENSGARD MEMORIAL
Plans to have Billy Swensgard’s Memorial Marker ready for a Memorial Day Celebration are being worked on.  The design of the marker, the placement, and actual ordering has been completed.  The most important item left is to sell the 500 raffle tickets to cover the cost of the Memorial.  Please drop in to the Club House to purchase your tickets or contact Diane Jones @ 406-270-7021or me @ 622-3217 after 2:00 p.m.

Benton Pharmacy was kind enough to let a display of the prizes be placed in their front window.  Any one of the prizes would be great to win but I covet the American Flag.  It is so special having been flown over the Capitol in Washington, D.C.  It is a once in a lifetime prize.

Red t-shirts have been ordered that have “Support Our Troops,” on them.  These shirts should be available in the next two weeks.  The V.F.W. Auxiliary will be handling the sales.  Check with the Club House to purchase one of these shirts.  They will also be available at the Loma Flea Market on April 5th.  Please purchase and wear on Fridays.  It is the least we can do to support our troops.
